Networking Specialist (Intermediate)
About this role
We seek a skilled and experienced Networking Specialist to join our IT team. The Networking Specialist will design, implement, manage, and support our organization’s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network hardware and software, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to ensuring the efficiency and security of our network systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN).
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS).
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning.
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues.
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure.
- Maintain accurate network documentation and Visio diagrams as changes are made.
- Document network problems and resolutions for future reference.
- Produce regular reports on network performance, issues, and trends.
- In-depth knowledge of network protocols.
- Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
- Familiarity with various operating systems (Windows, Linux) and virtualization platforms
- Proficiency in network security measures and practices.
- Additional knowledge of packet brokers will be considered a plus.
